WoW Countdown

Today, Ahphua came to my house to take the WoW game. His brother is setting it up tonight.
Project WoW Party is expected to start on Wednesday, 5th December at 8pm.
We can PARTY TILL DAWN. Who cares about Zouk Out?

So everybody, please make sure you got your WoW game installed and patched by that time. If you do not have it, please get it from me asap. There is alot to prepare, so best that you prepare it early like Mac.

Ok, to the part about servers.

I have not played in other servers before so I do not know if there are many bugs in the other servers.
The only other server I have tried is wowscape
and it sucks big time. Lots of bugs but hundreds of people online.

I went to look online for other servers that are not funservers. Funservers are servers that have stuff like instant level 70, the ability to fly around and other nonsense. Takes the fun out of playing in my opinion.

I filtered the lousy servers away to this 3 servers.

I have not played in any of these servers yet, so I do not know whether they are buggy or not. There are a hundred plus people playing on each of the servers, so it is medium populated.

The final point I want to make is, I want to let you guys decide on what server to play, so if the server is shitty, I won't get crap from you.

Otherwise we can always play at the server I have been playing in, Gideon's Lair.
Low populated, but confirmed less bugs, and if there is a problem, there will be a GM to help you.
I also have been saving items for you guys so you already have a nice base foundation to work on. But if we start at a new server, we will be starting from scratch.

As you guys already know I am playing on a low populated server call Gideons Lair. I went to do more research on private servers and I came out with a few websites.

These websites have lists of the most popular WoW servers. Please view them and tell me what kind of server you prefer.

Priority in choosing a Server:
a) High or Low Populated ? (Low as in less than 20 or just simply don't care how many online.)
b) Lots of stuff working ?
c) High Exp Rates(40 times) or Medium(10 times) or abit (2.5 times) ?
d) Play in a server where I already have high level characters ?

So what kind of servers do you guys want? Please tag on your priorities, a, b,c ,d, in order from the highest to the lowest priority. Thank you.

WoW Update 1

Good news everybody!

Just had a talk with Dabing and he wants to be a WARRIOR! The main tank for us. Now we need to find a healer.

In WoW, a healer and tank can go fight bosses together. Without one of them, the party is doomed. That is why healers and tanks and even hybrids are more valuable than DPS.
DPS just makes the time to kill bosses shorter. Parties can still the bosses without them.

During raids, if a nice sword drop and the tank and a rogue wants it, the tank will get it. Reason why? Because the tank is more important than the rogue.
Same thing when a nice wand drop and a mage and a priest wants it. The priest will get it.

Conclusion: Tanks and Healers have item priority.

PARTY RULES

If there are 2 rogues in the party, and a nice sword drop and both of the rogues want it, the 2 rogues must roll for it. Just like rolling a dice. The one who rolls the highest score will get it.

Anyone who just takes items without rolling or takes items that do not belong to their class are call NINJAS.
Once you ninja something, you are blacklisted in the server. Nobody will want to let you into their party. You won't be able to be in any guilds etc.
So bottomline is, DO NOT NINJA. *attention kalong*

Hybrids

Why be a jack of all trades, master of none when you can be a master of 1? Many people like to take the DPS Class such as Rogue, Mages and Warlock. But what about hybrids?

Hybrids are very valuable in WoW, because they can do everything. They might not be able to do as good as the primary class, but they can do EVERYTHING.

For example, a rogue and a druid. Both of this class wears leather armour, and has roughly the same amount of life.
The rogue can deal more damage than the druid.
However, the druid can tank and heal too!

Here is an example.
A party consisting of a druid/rogue, priest and warrior are in a dungeon raiding. The party happens to aggro 2 hard hitting enemies. The warrior immediately engage 1 enemy and start dealing threat to him. The other enemy attacks the rogue and hits the rogue dealing him lots of damage as the rogue has less life and armour. The priest who is healing the warrior, cannot heal the rogue in time and the rogue dies.
If a druid was present instead of the rogue, he can shapeshift into Bear Form and tank the enemy. Once he has killed the enemy, he can shapeshift into Cat Form and help the warrior fight his enemy. If the enemy is hitting the warrior too hard, he can turn back into his original form and heal the warrior.

A reason why I want to be a Blood Elf. They are the most good looking in the game!

There are currently 3 hybrids in WoW. Shaman, Paladin and Druid.
This is a rating comparison for the 3 hybrids on how good they are in.

Tank
It is a close fight between Paladin and Druid but the Paladin wins. Shaman who wears mail armour can't tank as well as these 2.
DPS
Shaman wins, follow by Druid and lastly Paladin. Paladin is one of the worst DPS class in the game lol.

Heal
Again, its a close fight between the Paladin and Druid. The Druid is better at healing a group as he has spells that heal everybody. However, the Paladin is the most powerful single target healing class. The Paladin heal is so good that he is on the same par as the Priest! The Shaman can heal, but not as good.

Buffs
All 3 classes are able to cast buffs to make the party stronger. This time, Paladin wins follow by the Shaman and lastly, the Druid.

Versatility
The Druid wins this one. This is because, he just have to put his talent points in his shapeshifting skills to be able to shapeshift and change roles. The Paladin and Shaman however, has to re-spec to be able change roles. They still can do other roles but not as good when they focus their talent points.

As you can see, each of the hybrids are good in their own way. If you want more DPS orientated, you take Shaman. You want a more healing and tanking class, you take Paladin. You want a class that is good in everything and balanced out in skills, you take the Druid.

WoW Information Part 5

Today we will talk about group tactics.

When a group attack a monster, the group will generate threat against the monster. For example, in the group there is a warrior, a priest and a mage.
When the warrior attacks the monster, he deals damage and a hidden amount of threat. The monster will then attack the person who deals the most number of threat.
If the warrior attacks the monster and deals 100 threat, and the mage casts fireball and deals 200 threat and the priest cast a heal at the warrior and deal 50 threat(Yes! healing generates threat too!), the monster will attack the mage as he deals the most amount of threat.

This is important as you want the monster to attack the warrior and not the mage. If the monster attacking the warrior suddenly change target and attack the mage, the mage might not be able to survive the damage as he has low life and low armour, and will die. Therefore, to prevent this, you have to make sure that you do not deal more threat then the warrior.

The DPS classes like rogues and mages therefore have to watch out for their threat. They have to deal the maximum damage as possible but have to always be below the threat deal by the warrior.

The term "aggro" means that the monster is currently attacking who. For example, Tay has aggro. This means that the monster is currently attacking Tay.

Note: I am thinking of making a Blood Elf Paladin. I already have a Night Elf Warrior, a Night Elf Rogue, and a Human Priest. Don't really want to make another Alliance character. But if everybody strongly want to be Alliance, then I guess i have to suck my thumb and be Alliance :D

WoW Information Part 4

There are many private servers online. The hardest thing is finding the best one that suits everybody. The one I am currently playing on is a low populated server call Gideon's Lair. It is so low that I found out that I was the only one online in the server for the whole afternoon! This is because the server is Canada based, so most of them come online at Singapore time morning or at night.

I did the few searches for more suitable servers and this is the list I got.

1. Gideons Lair - This is the server which I have been playing on. I have 1 lvl 70 warrior, 1 lvl 52 priest and 1 lvl 52 rogue there. 99% of the quests are working there and I say about 90% of the spells are working too. It has a LOW population, mainly because it doesn't advertise much. Stuff are being updated regularly. Experience rates is 2.5 times faster than the official game.

2. Wowscape - This is the server with a very very high population. Although it has a very high population(about 500+ online), alot of stuff are spoiled. When your character has a bug or something is spoiled with your character, it will take a very long time for a GM to come solve the bug for you. VERY LONG TIME. Although it has so many things that are spoiled, alot of people play on it because its experience rates is 40 times faster than the official game.

I do not really like experience rates that are so many times faster than the official game. This is because, you level up too fast until you are not really playing the game properly. You are just getting to level 70 asap and not experiencing the other content the game has to offer.

There are many more servers online, but its hard to find which is the best.
